Another exhibition - another artist. So what’s new…well this one may be local (sixty years in Woodbridge) but the intention is to turn local townscapes and quirky streets from the ordinary into the eye catching. No gimmicks, though. It’s painting in the classical sense but hopefully, not stuffy or old hat. The aim is to celebrate tradition in a way that is still relevant in our time. There are other subjects, of course, such as people, boats and landscapes and the style moves substantially - different ideas and subjects need a different approach, this artist believes. In the end, he concedes, the view of good painting and its relevance is in the eye of the beholder. Words are not enough.
