Mita & Steve Higton

Mita depicts the East Anglian landscape in vibrant, light filled, textural paintings using watercolour, acrylic inks and gouache

with a liberal sprinkling of found objects such as grasses, seeds, collage and fabric.

She is a Full Member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists (IEA), and a member of the Society of East Anglia Watercolourists (SEAW).

She has works of artworks in private collections around the world. The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra purchased ‘Beached At Aldeburgh’

which was presented to Yutaka Sado him after Orchestra’s Japanese tour 2011.

Paintings ‘Valerian Glory at Aldeburgh’ and ‘Red Hot Suffolk Snow’ were selected to be the CD cover artwork for Benjamin Britten’s centenary CD 2011

Steve has been painting most of his life, alongside pursuing a career in industry.

A move to East Anglia on retirement gave the opportunity to turn professional.

The coast, landscape and the rich artistic tradition of this inspirational county were the magnet that drew him to live and paint here.

Local artists of the past, such as Edward Seago, have also been hugely inspirational for him.

Steve and Mita are Members of IEA (Institute of East Anglia Artists).
