SUMMER IN SUFFOLK
“What a place to be in summer with a brush, palette and canvas in front of you”, says John Roberts, local painter who moved from London to Woodbridge in 1960 attracted by yachting and the river. His intention, eventually to sail away, faded as his love of the town and its people developed. He realised that Woodbridge was his real home. All this is reflected in the warm paintings of the town that are his on-going work. Although he undertakes commissions and sometimes very different subjects, he constantly returns to the place that is his true inspiration.
