Kate Roocroft
In 2007 we moved closer to Woodbridge, and I was devoted to raising my children. In 2018 I actively started painting again, as I found myself inspired by the local countryside. I was particularly drawn to the river scenes near our home. In 2020 I had my first joint exhibition, and ever since my work has evolved, as I experiment and develop my practise.
I work primarily from the Deben, out on location for initial marks, and then build up layer upon layer with paint and mixed media back in the studio. Lately, my work has become about familiarity with these local sites, favourite places I have visited time and time again.
Walking and the feeling of being alive it gives me, provide a constant source of energy and renewed motivation, striving to capture the very essence of these amazing places.
Having a background in Textiles and specialising in Print & Painting during my University career has always been the foundation from which my work has evolved. This journey serves to strengthen my love for painting every single day. In 2007 we moved closer to Woodbridge, and I was devoted to raising my children. Cathy Outen
Working with clay has always been Cathy's passion! She loves to explore the feel of it in her hands as a simple ball of clay is transformed into its finished ceramic form.
She works with stoneware clays in her Suffolk garden studio and enjoys experimenting with a variety of glazes and firings to create contrasting colours, finishes and textures
Carolyn Hinchliffe
Carolyn Hinchliffe is an acrylic painter inspired by vibrant colours in the natural world. She is captivated by fleeting moments, such as the turquoise flash of a kingfisher in flight. She seeks to create paintings that hold onto and celebrate that brief and beautiful image.
Carolyn is also drawn to flowers, and their ever-changing, transient state, and enjoys capturing that moment in time on the canvas.
Carolyn's paintings are bold and colourful, and are a celebration of the beauty of the natural world around us.
