The Suffolk Group was founded in 1990 by around 18 notable artists, several of whom were based in Walberswick (one of them, Richard Scott, who died in 2020, was the author of Artists at Walberswick: East Anglian Interludes 1880-2000).

Membership currently stands at nineteen (mainly painters, printmakers and sculptors), thirteen of whom are happy to be back here at Artspace together for the third time.  They are: Clare Bailey; Graham Giles; Julie Giles; Lindsay Harris; Claire Lambert; Diana Marsden; Malcolm Moseley; Elaine Nason; Margot Noyes; Kate Reynolds; Marisa Sharp; Colin Slee; Jack Stephenson.
