Lasting Impressions

LASTING IMPRESSIONS

AN EXHIBITION OF PRINTMAKING

Lasting Impressions brings together three experienced and exciting printmakers who work mainly in lino printing. The skill and versatility of the three artists using this simple material is outstanding.

Julie Orpen is inspired by the natural world around her, attempting to convey the movement in nature and the sense of depth when she designs her work. Her recent prints have been focussed on birds and animals using their collective noun as a theme. She is also an excellent engraver.

Constantly inspired by her surroundings, Anne Townshend can often be seen sketching and drawing in the Suffolk lanes or somewhere along the beautiful East Coast. Having always been involved in with art, it was the acquisition of her own Albion press that initiated a love of printmaking.

Bryan Whiteley is also drawn towards landscape and an expression of nature through pattern and colour. He loves the art of engraving and the chance effects created by printing. His prints are often experimental, combining different techniques and etching the lino blocks to create a softer more painterly effect.
