“Swimming is a passion, wilderness, the ultimate habitat, soaking in the landscape while suspended and cajoled into surrendering to peace and joy. With senses tuned to stillness, sounds are pristine, sights hushed, troubles dissolved in the baptism. Emerging new born, the warmth sings into your body, each cell reverberating, euphoric. To blend this experience into paint, is my indulgence, and hope, to share the joy. Competitive swimming was my skill, triathlon, skimming the French Alps on my trusty stead of pale blue steel. Now, just floating happily is the perfect achievement.
Currently painting large murals, building sculptures and theming mini golf parks is the ‘job’, building artificial rockscapes and swim ponds. Portrait commissions are welcome interludes to playing in the mud on building sites, the extreme flavours in life satisfying a healthy appetite for experience.” Dawn Pretty
