Harry Chrystall
Harry Chrystall is a mixed media artist with a predominant interest in the nature of identity and authorship, and how they have evolved and function within the pervading conditions governing the human experience.
With an emphasis on process often involving what we think of as natural phonomena, his means of creation reflect in a literal sense this mysterious relationship between individual and setting.
The structure of 'A house on the beach is not a dream' is fabricated from weathered garden fence panels and constructed to resemble the familiar coastal groynes which extend from the land into the sea.
The purpose of these structures is to prevent the repeated movement of the waves removing parts of the land. Across this structure there are monochromatic 'Appearances' of ink on watercolour paper.
